Untitled II ( Homage ), 2019
Giclee Print on Hahnemuhle Pearl
Inexpensive, low-grade materials such as cardboard, fabric, plywood, polystyrene, steel, scrim and cement create assemblages. Finally, the sculpture is coated in white paint, which neutralises the assembled materials and renders the newly formed object into a coherent whole. Untitled II (Homage) recalls the traditions of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman sculpture while also subverting marble's classical connotation of perfection on the roughly handled and painted surfaces.
